Multiple Birth Insurance?? PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 12 May 2008 22:45

Are multiple births something we should take insurance out on? Brokers in England seem to think so. They are offering newly pregnant mothers the chance to take out Multiple Birth Cover before their first scan so that in the event their one baby turns out to be 2 or more they will get a financial payout.  One mother paid a £700 premium and fortunately did have twins so received a £5,000 payout. Never-the-less £700 seems like an awful lot to pay for a premium just in case. Click here to read more in the Independent.

Happy Mother's Day!! PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 May 2008 20:50

Caring for a single child is a challenge in itself. But many mums are twice or even thrice blessed and have to rise to the challenge of raising two or three babies (or more!!) at once. Because today is Mothers Day I have selected a couple of different stories about Mothers and their multiples.

The first story is the story of a mum and her twin boys, one of whom has a serious heart condition. She has not only bravely faced the resulting challenges but has embraced them to become a paramedic and a champion for raising people's awareness of heart disease. Click here to read more in the Dallas News

The second story is the happy story of a young couple and their gorgeous quads. Click here to read about the Michaels Quads

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Court orders transfusion for unborn twins PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 06 May 2008 20:39

Last week the High Court in Dublin ruled that doctors can perform a life-saving tranfusion on anaemic twins as soon as they are born. The twins are suffering from anaemia as they are both Rhesus D positive and the mother is Rhesus D negative so her antibodies have attacked their red blood cells. The parents refused to consent to the transfusions due to their religious beliefs but have said that they will not interfere with the Court's ruling.

What a hard position to be in as a parent - do you follow your religious beliefs or your instinct as a parent to protect your children at all costs?
