A research study of mothers with twins has discovered that mums with newborn twins are likely to be significantly sleep deprived and may have depressive symptoms. The study was conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and really just confirms what we already know about newborn twins and lack of sleep. May be a good article to show family and friends though so they offer to help more :o)

From the moment you find out you are expecting twins the questions begin: Will you sleep them together? Will you dress them alike? Will they attend the same class at school? How much do you acknowledge their twinship and how much do you encourage their individuality? Everyone has different ideas and you will get a lot of well-meaning advice - often from people who have never had twins. However in this article Joan Friedman, a psychotherapist who is herself an identical twin and who has had twin boys, is reported to encourage parents to treat their twins as individuals from day one.
